Dreaming of Homemaking & Homeschool

From a young age, if you asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would say that I wanted to be a mom. As I grew older, I began to realize just how special it is to have a dream like mine. I imagine sourdough toast and homemade butter with my kids in the morning before homeschool and playing with the cows. Daydreaming about sipping coffee and hot chocolate with my family, while watching the rainy days from the porch, makes dull days fly by.

This morning, my heart felt inspired to write a short message to the college or high school girl who is just like me… dreaming of homemaking and homeschooling. In this season of waiting— waiting for the right time, waiting for the right man, waiting for the right financial situation to become a mom, there is so much you have in your hands. Through prayer and scripture, let the Lord shape you in every moment. While you wait for those exciting moments in life, it is essential to remember where the Lord is using you today.

In moments of impatience, take a step back and look around you. Learn new recipes, learn to pray through impatience, learn to love better, and all of these things will bring blessings in your future. There will always be something to hope for, and this is good. However, learn with me to take our time. Enjoy the moments, build for your future, and take these memories with you to share with your future kids and grandkids.

Think about the future you want for your future children, and live that today. Ask yourself… “When my kids are in their 20s, what are my hopes for their lives?”
