Preparing Christmas with Peace, Not Perfection

The older I get, the more I realize how quickly the holidays can slip into a blur. Lists, gatherings, gifts, expectations, all of it pulling at our hearts to keep up.

But when I slow down long enough to really look at it, I’m reminded that Christmas was never meant to be polished. It began quietly, in a stable, under a sky full of stars, in the middle of ordinary life.

This year, I want to prepare with peace.

To light a candle before rushing into the day.

To plan what matters and let go of what doesn’t.

To remember that simple moments, such as baking bread, writing a card, or setting the table, can still be worship. The holidays don’t need to be perfect to be holy. Sometimes the most sacred thing you can do is pause, breathe, and be present right where you are.

Something special is coming soon to The Heard that will help you do just that:

A little tool for slow, meaningful Christmas rhythms. But for now, let this week be a small reminder to prepare your heart before your plans.
